Curious George: A Very Monkey Christmas
Everybody’s favorite monkey, Curious George, will be appearing in an all-new holiday special that premieres tomorrow, the day before Thanksgiving, on local PBS stations. Curious George: A Very Monkey Christmas is the first ever holiday movie to feature the beloved little monkey!
PBS Kids provided me with a special screener of the movie, and my daughters have watched it a couple of times with their friends. This is a movie that will appeal to any child, especially those of preschool age. A movie that, as a parent, I feel comfortable playing for my kids while (unbeknownst to them) I wrap presents in the other room. There’s no Scrooge, and definitely no Grinch to scare them!
George and The Man with The Yellow Hat are having a very merry time with Christmas preparations like picking and decorating a tree, making a Christmas list, and figuring out the perfect gifts for one another. There’s only one puzzle: neither of them can figure out what to give the other for a present! The Man is having trouble reading George’s wish list and George doesn’t have a clue about what to get for The Man who has everything. Will they be able to find the answers before Christmas morning? As they get more and more distraught over what to get one another for Christmas, the Ghost of Time Gone Sideways visits the Man in the Yellow Hat and helps him realize just how important he and George are to one another. In the process, the Man figures out the perfect gift for George, and, clever monkey that he is, George also thinks of a gift that will mean more to the Man in the Yellow Hat than anything else in the world. What could be better than a holiday story about everyone’s favorite monkey and the joy of giving?
Popular characters like Gnocchi the cat, Hundley the dog, Chef Pisghetti, and The Doorman also make an appearance. If your kids don’t have a chance to watch it tomorrow, the special will replay throughout December and for holiday seasons to come, and it’s also available on DVD! At 58 minutes long, the DVD doesn’t offer any extras, but does provide subtitles in English, French, and Spanish. It’s the perfect movie to play in the car on the way to grandma’s house!
Find the DVD on Amazon and other retailers nationwide. Watch a preview of A Very Monkey Christmas:
I’m giving you a chance to win a copy right here! As a special bonus, I’ll also include the Curious George: A Very Monkey Christmas Soundtrack that was just released today! It’s loaded with new renditions of old classics, a few new tunes, enchanting holiday score music and the Curious George Main Title theme performed by the legendary Dr. John. It’s a fun Christmas collectible for Curious George fans of all ages. The soundtrack is available at national retailers such as Amazon, Target, Walmart, Barnes & Noble, Borders, and iTunes.
