Dora Saves the Crystal Kingdom Review
Dora’s going on another adventure! Dora the Explorer: Dora Saves the Crystal Kingdom was released on DVD last Tuesday and my girls love it.
In this feature-length movie, Dora continues her magical storybook adventure from last fall (“Dora Saves the Snow Princess”), when the magic crystal that the Snow Princess gave her brings to life another character in her storybook – Allie of the Crystal Kingdom. A greedy king has stolen the crystals that give Allie’s kingdom color. Dora and Boots must help Allie locate the crystals and turn the pale gray kingdom back into a colorful wonderland before it’s too late.
I’ve always loved the way that Dora encourages kids to get up and move around while watching TV. She asks questions, and my girls answer. She says words in Spanish, and they repeat the words and learn them by heart. It’s a wonderful, well-rounded program for preschoolers, and this particular episode doesn’t disappoint. The DVD also includes a fun age-appropriate crystal color matching game and two additional adventures – “First Day of School” and “Boots’ Banana Wish”.
When the movie’s over, you can go online and find tons of Crystal Kingdom activities that go along with the movie, like dress-up ideas, recipes, coloring pages, and online games. There’s also a Dora Saves the Crystal Kingdom Wii game coming out in November and I have a feeling it’ll be on the 5-year old’s Christmas wish list.

My daughter loves Dora for the backpack theme. That is her favorite song and goes crazy when it comes on. She also loves the part where they ask the audience what was their favorite part, boy does she ever give them an ear full of her favorite part.
