Macy’s just unveiled Marilyn Monroe, an apparel collection inspired by the starlet’s legendary style. The collection, created by LF USA and Authentic Brands Group, aims to infuse Marilyn’s unrivaled personality and retro styling into flirty and fun garments for the “fashion-forward girl,” so I’m guessing it’ll be available in the Juniors section.
The advertising campaign will look something like these photos, which you’ll start to see in stores and magazines ads this month.
Marilyn loved fashion, and this collection tries to bring this to life. I love the concept as a whole, and really want to like the individual pieces, but I feel like it’s just a little too sexy for the average teenage girl.
While I like the playful cherry and polka dot prints and the retro silhouettes, the romper, belly-baring shirts, and cut-off shorts are a little much. And maybe I’m just a little jealous that there’s not a Marilyn line for women…
