Milkshake in concert!

Remember my review of Milkshake’s Screen Play DVD earlier this year? Well, I’m thrilled to tell you that I’m taking the girls to their concert tomorrow morning at the Lyric Opera House in Baltimore!!

From the Lyric Opera House website:

Milkshake is probably the world’s most serious rock band for children. Not “serious” as in sad, but serious as in seriously musical. Milkshake writes and performs music that is as musically sophisticated as it is lyrically lighthearted and child-centered. Though never condescending, they speak a kind of universally appealing language; a language familiar to young and old, child and parent, music fans of all ages.

Milkshake began in 2002, when singer Lisa Mathews and guitarist Mikel Gehl started to write songs inspired by their children. The band has released three award-winning CDs, and their music videos have appeared on Noggin, PBS KIDS and Discovery Kids’ Emmy-winning ToddWorld.

Their latest release is Screen Play, a DVD video compilation of live-action, animation, live performance and bonus tracks, including two videos created for PBS KIDS. You’ll find some of the same songs inspiring Milkshake’s new Comic Book, featuring three original stories filled with joy, creativity and self-esteem, themes found throughout the band’s music.

Joining Milkshake on this very special performance will be juggler-comedian extraordinaire Hilby and Moo the cow.

Tickets are available at the Lyric Box Office in person, over the phone at 410-547-SEAT or 202-397-SEAT and online through TicketMaster.

So if you’re in the area and are looking for something fun to do, this is it!
Tickets are still available as I write this.
