Thanks for a great review. Me and my daughter were in a wreak 2 days ago and I was trying to find a new carseat. My daughter walked out with a couple scratches from her belt, thank goodness. I think this carseat would be a great investment, going to purchase one next week. Thanks so much

Your nine month old MUST be rear facing! The law is 1 AND 20 pounds, but it is changing to 2yrs and 30 pounds as rec. by the AAP. The skeleton/spine of a child does not calcify until at least 3, so there is a high risk of breaking their neck...see http://www.joelsjourney.org/ for a true story of an 18 mth old who broke his neck.
Please look up extended rear facing. It's 500% safer than forward facing. It's recommended to keep children rear facing until 3-4 yrs old.

Please look it up, it could save your son's life in an accident. Type it into Youtube and see the crash tests.

Here are some links :)

And visit car-seat.org for a wonderful forum full of techs who can rec. the best car seat for your situation/son's age/weight and your type of vehicle.

Best of luck!

I found your article quite informative. The one concern that pops up on most reviews of this product is space when in the rear facing position. We drive a Toyota Camry and am a bit concerned about fitting it rear facing. We have an 11 mo old, 23 lb, 30" son and would like to use the rear facing option as long as possible.; -and still have my wife sit in the front seat!
Thanks for your article! Off we go to buy the Air Safety Car Seat!

My son is nine months old and about 22 pounds. Do I have to have him rear facing or is forward facing okay? It is very confusing trying to find the right carseat to buy, thank you for posting such helpful information!

The only time a seat needs to be at 40 degrees is when a newborn is riding in it. This is to prevent the head from falling forward and blocking the airway. As soon as they have good head control, you can move the seat a little more upright. For older kids it can be as much as 30 degrees. This is actually pretty upright!

It was very refreshing to see a blog mention chest clip placement. May people don't understand that the chest clip can actually do damage if it isn't placed over the hard bone area. It was also nice to see extended rear facing mentioned.
